Mrs. Gabriella (Ella) Hintz (1885-1975), born Boros, was the wife of pharmacist Dr. György Hintz II and daughter of the Unitarian Bishop of Cluj. She was an amateur photographer, the first Cluj woman to hold a driver's license, an amateur leather craftswoman, a tennis player and a speaker of several languages, including English. She took several thousand photographs of her family, the Hintz pharmacy building and other urban snapshots of Cluj and Transylvania, including photographic experiments and collages. The images here, from the Hintz family photo albums, were selected and published by Melinda Blos-Jáni.
