30. Commemorative Inscription of Lady Katalin Perényi, Former Jesuit Chapel, Cluj-Mănăştur (Cluj-Napoca), Calea Mănăşturului No. 9, 1693

The former Jesuit chapel in Cluj-Mănăştur is one of the earliest Baroque buildings in the city of Cluj. In 1693, the main facade of the building was adorned with a complex decorative program, composed of a series of reliefs intended to commemorate the donation of Katalin Perényi, an important patroness of the order. The decoration also commemorates her relationship, along with that of the princes of Transylvania and Emperor Leopold, with the Jesuit order.

At the center of the composition, originally composed of eleven plaques, was the commemorative plaque of Lady Katalin Perényi, flanked by plaques of four Transylvanian princes who supported the Jesuit order: Stephen Báthory, Sigismund Rákóczi, George Rákóczi, and Gabriel Bethlen, as well as Emperor Leopold I. These plaques were arranged in a semicircle around the central plaque.
